Most people need their wisdom teeth out in their late teens or early twenties. In the majority of cases all four come out at the same appointment, under the level of sedation you choose, and all patients go home the same day.
Parents are part of the conversation for teen patients, from the first visit through recovery.
Why wisdom teeth come out
Wisdom teeth, the third molars at the very back of your mouth, usually begin to develop in the late teens to early twenties. For most people there simply is not enough room for them. When a wisdom tooth is impacted or crowded, it can push against neighboring teeth, trap food and bacteria under the gum, and set off pain, swelling, or repeat infections.
Removing problem wisdom teeth early, before the roots fully form and the jawbone hardens, generally means a simpler surgery and an easier recovery. That is why dentists and orthodontists often recommend an evaluation in the late-teen years even before symptoms start.
What the surgery is actually like
In the majority of cases all four wisdom teeth are removed at the same time, so you only go through the procedure and the anesthesia once. The surgery itself typically takes under an hour, and any stitches used are usually dissolvable and come out on their own.
All patients go home the same day. If you are sedated, a driver takes you home while the numbness wears off, and most patients are resting on the couch by lunchtime.

The consultation
Your surgeon reviews 3D imaging of your jaw, explains exactly what she sees, and walks through your anesthesia options. You leave knowing what to expect and how to prepare.

Surgery day
Fast if you are being sedated, wear comfortable clothes, and bring your driver. Most wisdom tooth surgery takes under an hour, and all four come out at once.

Going home
You go home the same day with written aftercare instructions. Gauze, ice on a twenty-minutes-on, twenty-off cycle, and rest for the first forty-eight hours.

The first week
Most patients take it easy for two to three days and are back to their normal routine within a week. Call us if anything worries you. That is what the number is for.

02Dental implants
A tooth that is yours again
A dental implant replaces the whole tooth, root and all. It looks natural, feels solid, and with good care it can last for decades.
Every implant case is planned on 3D imaging, so the implant goes exactly where the bone and the bite need it.
What an implant actually is
A dental implant is a small titanium post that takes the place of a missing tooth root. Once it fuses with your jawbone, a process called osseointegration, it becomes a rock-solid anchor for a crown that looks and works like a natural tooth. Unlike a bridge, an implant does not lean on the neighboring teeth, and unlike a removable denture, it never slips.
Implants also protect the jaw itself. When a tooth is lost, the bone that held it begins to shrink away. An implant keeps that bone stimulated and preserves the shape of your smile and face over time.
Why have a surgeon place it
Implant placement is surgery, and the planning matters as much as the placement. Your surgeon plans every case on 3D imaging, and if your jaw needs preparation first, bone grafting and sinus lift procedures are done here, in the same office, by the same surgeon.
Most healthy adults with a missing or failing tooth are candidates. Bone loss, gum disease, and certain medical conditions can change the plan but rarely rule implants out entirely, and grafting can rebuild bone that has been missing for years. The only way to know your options for sure is a consultation and a scan.

Consultation and scan
3D imaging, an honest assessment of your bone, and a clear written treatment plan you can take home and think about.

Over the following months the implant fuses quietly with your bone while you go about your life. Checkups confirm it is on track.

The crown
Your dentist attaches the final crown. We coordinate with them throughout, so the handoff is seamless and the restorative work stays theirs.

That is the usual span from placement to final crown.
Most of it is quiet healing time while the implant fuses with your bone. Some cases move faster. Your written plan lays out your own timeline before anything is scheduled.
